Do you guys have any timelines for the completion of MacBeth?
JG: I want to do MacBeth properly. There's too many cowboys and amateurs out there, and we want to do this right. We're aggressively pursuing funding right now and a couple of my producers want to see that in place before we get going. As far as a timeline, we'd like to get this going in production by the end of this year.

Where will you be shooting?
KS: The idea is to shoot here in Chicago and maybe some in Gary, Indiana in some industrial spots. As a company we were born here and we plan to stay here as much as we can.

What are some of the challenges do you face making a film here in Chicago?
KS:There's been so much done in the last couple of months here, that there's more of an incentive to film here. We know the people and we know the locations and we can get deals. I can pull in actors from Navy Pier (from the Chicago Shakespeare Theater) and the city draws in some name talent that want to come here and stay in the city for a couple of months. Logistically there's some huge advantages to filming here.

Disadvantages are that there's not a huge production hub here. It's a little harder to get what you need, but at the same time, people are a little more willing to cut you a break or give you a free location or overlook a mistake on parking just because they're excited that there’s a movie around. There are more advantages than disadvantages by far.

Who in the Chicago filmmaking community do you respect the most?
KS: That's a good question. I've always supported CCC. Those guys have done a lot. Roger Ebert's my favorite film critic. It's hard to say. We were hot in the eighties with John Hughes and the nineties, and in the last couple of years we seem to have kind of lost our product. I don't know if I specifically emulate anyone in particular, but we're definitely determined to keep it a hot community and we do what we can.

JG: I think you have to respect anyone after what's happened in the city who has managed to make a movie here, bring something back to the city of Chicago and get their film made and distributed has my blessing.

Any plans for moving the production offices to L.A.?
KS: It's always been important to me that we stay here. There's that work ethic and that mentality here - those broad shoulders that make this city great. You give people a call and they're there. Out in L.A. when they're in the neighborhood they'll drop in. There's enough here to get a film made, but it's not so easy that you don't have to really drive yourself to get it made. There's that sense that if you need it and you want it you can find it, but there's still that sense that I'll do it myself, I'll call in that favor, I'll get it done and that makes you a better filmmaker.
